I am walking in The 3Day Breast Cancer walk in Cleveland Aug 22-24. I need to raise $2200.00 for The Susan G. Komen For The Cure. Krusty's Summer Sauce Camp
The Organization to Inspire Samaritans (OTIS) and friends of the Malachi House present the 17th Annual “Krusty’s Summer Sauce Camp” to be held on Saturday August 2, 2008 at the Whiskey Island Marina in Cleveland, Ohio. Proceeds from the event benefit Cleveland’s Malachi House, a twenty-two bed, Ohio City home for the terminally ill, alone and indigent. The event runs from Noon to Dusk, and admission includes all-you-can-eat summertime fare, adult libations, musical entertainment and the opportunity to mingle with 1,500 young adults from Greater Cleveland. Come catch a groove with the sounds of second place (winner of the 2007 blind pig battle of the bands and The sweet reggae sounds of carlos jones & the plus Band. HansonHouse's 6th Annual Charity Golf Outing
HansonHouse's 6th Annual Charity Golf Outing Sunday, August 24, 2008. The outing starts at 8:00 a.m., at Emerald Woods Golf Course, at 12501 N. Boone Road in Columbia Station. The fundraiser for brain injury survivors is sponsored by the Cleveland Area Kiwanis. Each year more than 2 million people in U.S. are affected by traumatic brain injury (TBI). Hanson House, a not-for-profit organization in Berea, provides free, non-medical program services to survivors of TBI and their loved ones. The first program in Ohio based on the true clubhouse model of community re-entry for people with traumatic brain injury, HansonHouse is extending its reach to serve wounded veterans. TBI has been identified as the signature wound of the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. HansonHouse provides a supportive network of members and volunteers who participate in social, recreational and work-oriented programs for TBI victims with the purpose of using and developing practical and functional living skills. The $90 cost per golfer includes 18 holes of golf, cart, coffee and donuts, lunch and a dinner provided by Tony K's Bar and Grille. A $10 discount is available for those who register before August 1. Those who can't attend may sponsor a disabled or low-income golfer for $90. Non-golfing dinner guests are invited to attend for $40. The event also will include a $10,000 hole-in-one contest and other competitions and prizes. VetAid National Fundraiser
VetAid National, a non-profit organization based out of Northeast Ohio in cooperation with the city of Cleveland will be hosting a weekend long event in Cleveland beginning on August 29th, 2008 to raise money and awareness in support of our Veterans. All branches of the military will be represented along with national recording artists, local bands,vendors, a parade, and special attractions. A concert will be held at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum on 8/29 & 8/30 2008. The Intent of VetAid National is to assist our veterans with food, housing, utilities, and most important, medical needs when all other avenues have been exhausted. We as a nation must never forget the sacrifices our veterans and their families have given to us to enjoy the freedoms and quality of life we enjoy in this great nation. Any Veteran will be able to go to any Veterans Organization such as the DAV, VFW, VVA, Army-Navy, etc to apply for assistance and avoid the red tape usually associated with the government agencies. Vatican Splendors
One of the largest collections of art, documents and historically significant objects from the Vatican ever to tour North America is coming to Cleveland. The Western Reserve Historical Society hosts Vatican Splendors from Saint Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museums and the Swiss Guard beginning May 31, 2008. The exhibition features approximately 200 rare works of art and historically significant objects, many of which have never left the Vatican, that illustrate the Vatican’s impact on history and culture through 2,000 years. Cleveland is one of only three U.S. cities to host Vatican Splendors. Highlights of the exhibition include Michelangelo's compass and tools used in the building of the Sistine Chapel; works by Bernini, Giotto, Guercino and others; artwork dating back to the third century; venerated relics (bone fragments) of Saint Peter; the pastoral staff of Pope John Paul II and items from the election of Pope Benedict XVI, including election ballots, a ceremonial vestment and an actual white smoke cartridge used to announce the election of the pope. WHEN: Vatican Splendors from Saint Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museums and the Swiss Guard opens May 31, 2008, for a limited, exclusive regional engagement through Sept. 7, 2008.
